Chat with your database — and see the query behind every answer.
Connect a database read-only, type a question the way you'd ask a colleague, and get an answer in seconds. Unlike a chatbot that just states a number, SchemaChat shows the SQL it ran and a record of what it filtered and counted, so you can trust the answer — or check it.
How it works
- 1
Connect read-only
Paste a connection string for PostgreSQL, MySQL, BigQuery or Snowflake, or share a Google Sheet. SchemaChat can read your tables; it cannot change them.
- 2
Ask in plain English
“How many orders shipped late last month, by carrier?” You don't need to know the table names or write SQL.
- 3
Read the answer, the SQL and the receipt
Every answer that runs a query shows its SQL and a “How this was computed” receipt: the tables used, the filters applied, how many rows were counted and any assumption made.
What you can ask
- How many orders shipped late last month, by carrier?
- Which customers account for the top 10% of revenue?
- What changed in refunds since September?
- Compare average resolution time by team.
Why you can check it
The receipt lists the tables used, the filters applied, the rows counted and the assumptions. If your question mentions something the data doesn't have, SchemaChat says so rather than quietly using the nearest column.
Answers are tested on every release against 115 questions whose correct answers are computed independently from the data. That is our own test, not a guarantee about your schema — so we still recommend checking the numbers that matter.
Works with the databases you already use
- PostgreSQL, including Supabase, Neon, Amazon RDS and Aurora
- MySQL, including PlanetScale and MariaDB
- Google BigQuery and Snowflake
- Google Sheets (shared by link) and CSV/Excel uploads
Safe by design
Access is read-only and enforced in code: queries that write or alter data are refused. Database credentials are encrypted before they are stored. Workspaces have admin, member and viewer roles and an audit log, and admins can require two-factor sign-in.
What it doesn't do (yet)
- No SQL Server, Oracle or Databricks connectors.
- Google Sheets must be shared by link; it doesn't write back to a sheet.
- Read-only means it will never modify your database.
- The database must be reachable from the internet (private-network-only databases aren't supported yet).
We would rather tell you now. Read the security page for what we do and don't have.
Frequently asked questions
- Can it change or delete my data?
- No. Access is read-only, and queries that write or alter data are refused.
- Do I need to set up my schema first?
- No. SchemaChat reads your schema when you connect. You can add a list of governed metrics later if you want fixed definitions.
- What happens when the question is ambiguous or the data can't answer it?
- It says so instead of guessing. For multi-step analyses it also lists anything it could not cover.
- How is this different from asking a general chatbot about my data?
- SchemaChat runs the query against your database and shows you the SQL and a receipt for the result, rather than describing a number from memory.
- How much does it cost?
- Pricing is published on the pricing page, and every team gets a 14-day trial with no credit card.
