Refund Policy

SchemaChat refunds for subscription purchases

This Refund Policy explains when and how subscription charges may be refunded, how to request a review, and the process we follow. Our goal is to be fair and transparent. If you have a billing concern, we encourage you to contact us — most issues can be resolved quickly.

1. General billing principles

SchemaChat subscriptions are billed in advance for the selected billing period — either monthly or annually. Access to paid features begins immediately upon successful payment. Because access to the Service starts right away, charges for an active billing period are generally non-refundable once service access has begun, except in the circumstances described below.

All payments are processed by Paddle, who acts as the merchant of record. Depending on your location, Paddle's own refund and consumer protection policies may also apply.

2. Monthly subscriptions

Monthly subscriptions renew automatically on the same day each month. You may cancel at any time through your account settings, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period — meaning you retain access until the period you have already paid for expires.

We do not issue prorated refunds for unused days remaining in a monthly billing period following cancellation, unless required by applicable law or where an exception applies as described below.

3. Annual subscriptions

Annual subscriptions are billed upfront for a full 12-month period. If you cancel an annual subscription, you will retain access until the end of the annual period already paid for.

Refund requests for annual subscriptions submitted within 14 days of the initial purchase will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Approved refunds for annual subscriptions may be prorated for the unused portion of the subscription term at our discretion.

Annual renewals: We will send a reminder email at least 7 days before your annual subscription renews. If you did not intend to renew and contact us within 48 hours of the renewal charge, we will review a refund request promptly.

4. When refunds will be issued

We will issue a refund (in full or prorated) in the following situations: (a) Duplicate charge — you were charged twice for the same subscription period; (b) Charge after cancellation — you were charged after successfully cancelling your subscription; (c) Confirmed technical failure — a verified issue on our end prevented you from accessing the Service for a materially significant portion of a billing period; (d) Annual subscription within 14 days — you purchased an annual plan and request a refund within 14 days of the initial charge, provided you have not made substantial use of premium features during that period.

5. When refunds are generally not issued

We generally do not issue refunds in the following situations: (a) You forgot to cancel before a renewal date; (b) You changed your mind after using the Service; (c) You did not use your plan's features during the billing period; (d) A third party accessed your account (you are responsible for account security); (e) You were dissatisfied with AI output quality (AI outputs are advisory and we cannot guarantee specific results); (f) Your use of the Service was suspended or terminated due to a violation of our Terms of Service.

6. Plan downgrades

Downgrading to a lower plan takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Access to higher-tier features continues until the period ends. We do not issue credits or refunds for the difference in plan price when downgrading mid-cycle.

If you upgrade and then immediately downgrade, the upgrade charge is non-refundable unless the case falls under the exceptions in Section 4.

7. Chargebacks and disputes

If you believe a charge is incorrect or unauthorised, please contact us at billing@schemachat.co before initiating a chargeback with your bank or card issuer. We can usually resolve billing issues faster and more effectively than a formal dispute process.

Filing a chargeback without first contacting us may result in temporary suspension of your account while the dispute is investigated. Accounts found to have filed fraudulent chargebacks may be permanently banned from the Service.

8. Approved refund processing

Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method used at the time of purchase. Processing times depend on your payment provider and card issuer — typically 5–10 business days for credit/debit cards, though this can vary.

Refunds are issued in the original currency of the transaction. We are not responsible for exchange rate fluctuations between the original charge and the refund.

We may issue account credits instead of cash refunds in certain circumstances (e.g. partial billing period credits), which will be applied automatically to your next invoice.

9. How to request a refund

To request a refund review, email billing@schemachat.co within 14 days of the charge in question. Please include: your account email address, workspace name, the charge date and amount, and a brief explanation of why you are requesting a refund.

We aim to acknowledge all refund requests within 1 business day and to resolve them within 5 business days. Complex cases may take longer and we will keep you informed of progress.

For general billing questions or to cancel your subscription, you can also use the in-app support form under Settings → Support.

10. Consumer rights

Nothing in this Refund Policy affects your statutory rights as a consumer under applicable law. Depending on your country of residence, you may have additional rights — for example, a cooling-off period for digital services purchased online. If mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction entitle you to a refund that differs from this policy, those rights take precedence.

For EU/EEA customers: Under the EU Consumer Rights Directive, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of purchase for digital services, unless you have expressly consented to immediate access and acknowledged that your right of withdrawal is thereby lost.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice. The current effective date is shown at the top of this page.
