How to calculate Offer Acceptance Rate
Offer acceptance rate is the percentage of job offers that candidates accept.
Formula
Offer acceptance rate = offers accepted ÷ offers made × 100SQL query
This example assumes: offers(id, job_id, offered_at, status) where status is 'accepted', 'declined' or 'pending'. It is written in PostgreSQL syntax; date functions differ slightly in MySQL, BigQuery and SQLite, and your column names will differ from these.
SELECT DATE_TRUNC('quarter', offered_at) AS quarter,
COUNT(*) FILTER (WHERE status = 'accepted') * 100.0
/ NULLIF(COUNT(*) FILTER (WHERE status IN ('accepted', 'declined')), 0) AS acceptance_pct
FROM offers
GROUP BY 1
ORDER BY 1;Common mistakes that make Offer Acceptance Rate wrong
- Offers still pending belong in neither group until decided.
- Declines because of compensation versus timing need different fixes; record the reason.
- Counter-offers and re-issued offers can double count a candidate.
Ask for Offer Acceptance Rate in plain English
Instead of writing the query yourself, you can type the question. SchemaChat turns it into SQL against your connected database or uploaded file, runs it, and shows the SQL and the figures it used so you can check the answer before you share it. It does not replace your judgement about the definition: check that the query matches the formula your business uses.
